Whether it’s an international team looking to deploy a new on-device application, a customer needing a critical firmware update, an Enterprise group needing multi-location device tooling - our systems empower customers to set up, secure, and manage their devices from wherever they are.</p> <p><strong>Why this team?</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Expanding the Vision</strong>: We are expanding our Mobile Device Management ecosystem—unifying firmware, on-device apps, and security controls into one cohesive platform.</li> <li><strong>Frictionless Device Management</strong>: We are transforming the customer’s device lifecycle experience from out-of-the-box setup to continuous remote management, leveraging AI to dramatically reduce operator’s time spent troubleshooting and configuring devices.</li> </ul> <h3><strong><em>About this roll* (Responsibilities):</em></strong></h3> <ul> <li>Hands-on design and implementation of Android system applications in Java or Kotlin that power Toast's device management suite, including device policy enforcement, out-of-box device setup, and firmware and app updates.</li> <li>Build features with a heavier focus on background services than UI, designed to run reliably on devices with little to no user interaction.</li> <li>Support bring-up of new Toast hardware and OS upgrades by making sure our system apps work as expected on each device type.</li> <li>Expand our end-to-end automated testing framework using Robot Framework to validate our apps against real Toast hardware and reduce manual regression testing.</li> <li>Investigate and debug production issues across Toast's device fleet.</li> <li>Collaborate with Product Management, Hardware, QA, and other Software teams to build scalable systems.</li> <li>Make solid technical decisions, keeping software quality, security, and maintainability in mind.</li> </ul> <h3><strong><em>Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements):</em></strong></h3> <ul> <li>3+ years of Android application development experience.</li> <li>Clear written and verbal communication</li> <li>Proficient in a modern object-oriented programming language such as Java or Kotlin.</li> <li>Experience with standard Android architecture patterns &amp; libraries such as Hilt, AndroidX libraries, and Kotlin Coroutines.</li> <li>Experience triaging issues with Android tools such as adb and logcat.</li> <li>Proficiency with source control and code review tools such as Git, Gerrit, or GitHub.</li> </ul> <h3><strong><em>Bonus ingredients*:</em></strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience writing automated tests using Robot, UIAutomator or other testing frameworks.</li> <li>Familiarity with AI-augmented development workflows and tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, or similar).</li> <li>Experience with the Android framework, system services, or system apps written in Kotlin or Java.</li> <li>Understanding of mobile device management (MDM) concepts and enterprise device management platforms.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p data-pm-slice="1 1 []"><strong>AI at Toast</strong></p> <p>At Toast, one of our company values is that we're hungry to build and learn.
